Our public life is a direct reflection of our prayer life. Does that mean the public life of a praying man is perfect? Absolutely not, but more importantly it reflects the character of God in an imperfect world. Put everything on pause for the sake of prayer. Pray persistently, perpetually without end. Get up earlier, stay up later, do everything that you must to cultivate a lifestyle of prayer, because it is through biblically informed prayer that you will experience intimacy with God which will result in His will being fufilled in and through you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 …16Rejoice at all times. 17Pray without ceasing.18Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.…

James 1:6-7 6But he must ask  faith, without doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That man should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.…

How many times have you heard someone say "Don't get your hopes up."? The phrase implies that what you're hoping for may not happen, and suggests that if you add a little doubt to your belief you won't be as disappointed when it doesn't. This attitude is contrary to faith, without which it is impossible to please God. Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. I believe God, my hopes are all the way up, and when what I am hoping for does happen I will give God the glory, and so will you.

Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

This world is fractured, and because of it true friendship can be hard to find. Who can we trust? Who can we confide in? Where can we go when we are hurt, exhausted, confused, or ashamed? To whom can we pour out our hearts to without fear or reservation? Sure some of us are are blessed with human relationships that allow for this kind of intimacy, and for this we are grateful. But even still the greatest relationship of all is between God and man through Jesus Christ. The bible says that even if our own parents forsake us, God will not. Talking with God as a friend is liberating. Everyday we can and ought to talk to God. The awesome thing is that God is always with us! So we can literally talk with God at anytime! We can smile and laugh with God as we do with our closest friend. We can pour out our hearts to God, clear the clutter from our minds, lay our burdens down, listen, and hear from our father, our creator, our God, savior, and friend who knows us and everything that pertains to us better than we will ever know for ourselves. Another interesting fact is that God even cares more about us than we care for ourselves. Now that's a true friend.

John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

People of God, have we forgotten the good news? Death was not the end of our Lord, neither will it be the end for us, nor for our family in Christ. The Lord has risen! Lift up your head, give thanks and rejoice for God is great and worthy to be praised regardless of our current circumstance. Reflect on all that God has done for you, in you, through you, and respond by rejoicing in the Lord with great abandon. Your praise does not undermine your pain, it channels it for a greater purpose.
