Wake Up Wednesday (Helping You Over The Hump)

A life for a life makes the whole world dead. -Damion Sanders Remix of A Brilliant Mahatma Gandhi Quote.

Even as a Christian man I can say that the darkest part of me enjoys a "good" revenge. When Carl Lee Hailey's (Samuel L. Jackson) gun went off and hot slugs sank into the flesh of the monsters who were acquitted after raping his little girl, every ounce of my blood sang "hallelujah!". But wait. That was a movie. On top of that Carl Lee was directly killing those responsible for the tearing away of his daughters innocence. But revenge is not what the recent killing of police officers is about. It's about murder. Plain and simple. Murder is murder. And murder is simply the unjust and unprovoked killing of another. All murder is evil. And murder's definition never changes with motive. All Black People are tired but not all of us are evil. It does not matter whether you share a skin tone and cover yourself with the blood of the fallen innocent to camouflage your carcinogenic ideologies. You are still a murderer. I hope... No. I am sure that I speak for all Black people when I say that the actions of Micah Johnson were as wicked and just as disgusting as the murderous cops he was attempting to send a message to.
It goes without saying that The Black community is first a community of human beings and anyone with an shred of humanity in him would thoroughly condemn Micah's actions. That being said, we are tired. And unfortunately, an unjust judicial system breeds Micahs. If the judicial system didn't consistently fail at its one job (being just) fewer people would take vengeance into their own hands. One of the best quotes I've heard lately is "Let us be glad that black people do not want revenge but equality." Let us pray for the families of the fallen fathers, brothers and sons as well as the fallen officers.

Romans 12:14-21

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position.[c] Do not be conceited.

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,”[d] says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
    if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
